Working for a fashion company with horrible owners was the best thing ever to happen, because it was my determination to escape the job, coupled with a very long commute that allowed the tiny seed of an idea to grow into a reality.

Having enjoyed a wonderful career designing clothes for all the UK major high street stores (apart from the horrible company -a mistake for the last year!) it was time for a new challenge. I noticed that the adaptive clothing market was stuck in limbo, not quite healthcare and certainly not fashionable. The choice for disabled children's clothing was particularly bad and this seemed like a good place to start. It occurred to me that a makeover was well overdue, and that it was possibly something I could do using my experience in the fashion industry.

Very nervously I asked my local special school if I could call in to show them some design’s and see what they thought. The reaction was astonishing and I will never forget how the conversation began.

"Come in - sit down - and don’t move - we are absolutely desperate for the following items"

Several visits later and with the wonderful support and help of a growing group of families teachers professionals and my new best friends the local disabled kids my most honest and harshest critics!) Rackety's was born. The aim was simple, to provide high street quality clothing, adapted to suit the needs of disabled kids. At the request of our ever growing customers we extended the range for adults, and now offer our range of adaptive clothing for all ages.

The best bit of all, which was quite unexpected, is how many wonderful and inspiring families I have met and helped along the way. This has to be one of the coolest jobs in the world, when a few simple changes make such an enormous difference to the daily lives of my customers.

Here at Rackety’s HQ with my loyal a determined team, we are on a mission to change the choices and perceptions surrounding disability and adaptive clothing forever. We plan to add a rainbow of color and sparkle into the rather grey healthcare industry, reflecting the vibrant, challenging and colorful lives of our customers.
